چکیده

Abstract Background and Aims Many similarities exist between the nephron & ear infrastructures, making them vulnerable to same risk factors. Idiopathic sensory neural hearing loss is frequent in pediatric patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Our aims were determine prevalence, type, degree of impairment CKD patients. Method This cross-sectional study was carried out at dialysis nephrology unit Children's hospital Audiology unit, Faculty Medicine Ain Shams University, included 45 patients’ stage 2-4, 5 on hemodialysis, 90 children as controls. Detailed history, physical, otological examinations audiological assessment by standard pure tone audiometry, speech audiometry tympanometry, IQ test, addition some laboratory investigations done for all our studied Results The mean significantly lower than controls, however, it higher non-dialysis groups (p = 0.05). Pure showed 16.6% had loss, which mainly (SNHL); (53.3%), that compared control group < 0.001). A mild high-frequency frequently reported. These findings weren't different patients, but significant (P<0.001). Regarding discrimination scores, controls a change Tympanometry test results, most normal middle pressure. determining factor affecting IQ. Conclusion High-frequency SNHL not uncommon low It's recommended do routine evaluation follow up early diagnosis intervention.

Premature T Cell Senescence in Pediatric CKD.

An individual's immune function, susceptibility to infection, and response to immunosuppressive therapy are influenced in part by his/her T cell maturation state. Although childhood is the most dynamic period of immune maturation, scant information regarding the variability of T cell maturation in children with renal disease is available. In this study, we compared the T cell phenotype in child...
